Updated 9/14/2010:  A 360 acre farm, flat land, on the outskirts of Ogdensburg, NY. Milk barn for some 95 cattle & heifer barn for some 72 heifers. Sixty acres of dry tilled land, 180 tillable, 100 wooded. Close to an airport. Abundant water and pasture, 3 silos, 1 harvester, 2 storage buildings, 2 sheds. A 1200 gallon milk tank and milking equipment. Two wells and a 1600 square foot farmhouse. Fenced in pasture. For lease or looking for a manager with a broad knowledge in agriculture interested in special crops.  Samples of soil taken recently indicate an option to transit fast to organic farming.


Farm Manager Wanted:  Experienced individual or family to manage and maintain well equipped farms in Dutchess and Columbia counties for a variety of farm products and crops:  hay, sheep, Angus cattle, lamb and beef management and sales.  Established operations may be available for lease, can provide housing if required.


 Unique situation for the right person.  I am a mushroom cultivator specializing in several varieties of oyster mushrooms and shiitake.  I grow on pasteurized straw and/or sawdust.  I distribute through restaurants and farm markets in the Hudson Valley.  I am seeking an assistant who is capable of filling in the various tasks I do.  Pay for hours worked is one option or a greenhouse and acreage is available for the assistant to develop their own cropping plan.  Housing could be an option.  I am very flexible per my needs.  Experience a plus.


We are looking for a bright, energetic herdsman to work on our farm in exchange for salary and equity in livestock. This position would provide someone with an opportunity to begin to build his/her own herd and gain experience working on a medium sized, profitable dairy.


Seeking young, motivated family or individual with an interest in managing and working an all natural, grass fed beef program; have dual purpose herd currently and developing sales contacts into New York City. Possibility to milk next spring. A I experience would be nice, but not a requirement. Cropping can be done by local neighboring operators; baling/haying equipment would be of use. Location is 1/2 hour south of Albany, 2 1/2 hours north of New York City, near Hudson river.

 FM135  Essex Farm in Essex, NY is seeking experienced and highly motivated farmers who want to join a fast-paced and team-oriented organization. We are dedicated to providing a full diet, year round, for our CSA members. 
Applications are being accepted for the following positions:
Butcher – The successful candidate will be in charge of slaughtering and butchering cattle, pigs and chickens for our weekly CSA distribution.
Vegetable Farmer – The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years experience in seed-to-storage vegetable production. The individual will be responsible for 10-20 acres of land, purchasing of seeds, field preparation, weeding, harvesting, and crop storage. Horse experience preferred but not required. Management experience required.
Livestock Farmer – The successful candidate will be responsible for daily chores and the overall well-being of livestock on the farm, including but not limited to: chickens, pigs, cattle and horses. Practical experience with rotational grazing is required.
Draft Horse Manager – The successful candidate will coordinate use of our herd of draft horses for daily farm chores and will be responsible for their management, care and wellbeing. The draft horse manager also trains new teamsters to work with horses and farm machinery. Teamster expertise required; familiarity with horse-powered farm tools preferred.
Carpenter – The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining farm infrastructure.
Farm Mechanic/Engineer – The successful candidate will create, maintain and repair farm machinery. Experience in welding, small engine repair, and general handiness required.
Grain Farmer – The successful candidate will sow, grow and harvest grain for livestock and humans and should have experience with machinery, small grain rotations, post- harvest handling and milling.
Orchardist – The successful candidate will work with exiting departments to design and plant an orchard that will supply the membership with year-round fruit. Experience with apples and/or pears required; with cherries, cane fruits, strawberries and grapes a plus.
Office manager – The successful candidate will be skilled and experienced with bookkeeping, records, payroll, and communication.
Distribution coordinator – The successful candidate will be in charge of communicating with and taking care of our farm members. He or she will manage our weekly distribution, collect payments, field questions, offer suggestions and provide a voice for the 170 people who eat from our farm.
FM136 Grape Hollow Farm is a lovely sweeping property with stonewalls and views on gently sloping land. There are mature sugar maple trees, a vegetable garden with fruit trees surrounded by deer fencing and a forest ready to be reclaimed. We purchased the property in August 2013. Our mission is to turn Grape Hollow Farm into an operating farm and a food production oasis by developing an emotionally, economically and environmentally enchancing agricultural enterprise. We're looking for an experienced farm manager to cultivate 20+ acres in the coming years using sustainable architecture and self-maintained agricultural systems modeled from natural ecosystems ito an organic vegetable farm producing high quality, organic foods for distribution in Hudson Valley and NYC.
FM137 Seeking experienced farm manager to grow existing successful 30 member “Health CSA” to 150 members for the 2014 season. The farm manager – who will be in charge of all farm operations - will collaborate with primary care MD to prevent and reverse illness using a plant-based whole foods diet. MD is farm owner and will provide funding for capital expenditures. Farm is 342 preserved acres  consisting of prime soils in Long Valley, NJ, 1 hour drive from NYC. Applicant should have extensive vegetable growing experience, some experience with grains and small fruits, basic construction skills, and good management competence. Farmer’s compensation consists of salary plus profit sharing and rent-free farm house.
